Sectional Felling/Removal

Sectional Removal is the process of removing a tree’s trunk or stem in sections after complete limb removal, usually because the stem cannot be felled safely due to either space restrictions, the shape and balance of the stem or the presence of underground services that may be damaged by the impact of the entire trunk hitting the ground.

The stem is climbed and the sections are roped off, cut and dropped in to a lowering system comprising of a lowering rope, pulley and a capstan-style or mechanical lowering device that allows the section to be lowered in a controlled manner to the ground.

We sometimes utilise the services of a mobile crane where excessively large and heavy stems are to be removed. This allows even more control over the removal process and reduces risk.

Sectional Felling/Removal

We have several climbing Arborists who are specially trained in aerial dismantling of trees using rope rigging techniques. It is a highly skilled process that is not without risk, however we minimise the risk to our operatives and your property by ensuring that all equipment is inspected every 6 months in accordance with LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations). This process identifies by precise recording any damaged or out-of-date equipment to ensure that the risk of failure when in use is kept as low as possible. We use the very latest equipment available and our operatives attend regular seminars and training courses to ensure they are up to speed with the latest developments in this area of arboriculture that has seen enormous development over the last 10 years, both in terms of equipment available and safer work processes.

Our lifting equipment is tested professionally every 6 months to make rigging operations as safe as possible.
